Dr BSVP specializes in the development of tools for fluid-structure-interaction (FSI) in Fluid-Thermal systems. His group has worked on wide spectrum of fluid-structure interaction problems ranging from the dynamics of wakes past bluff bodies to flow through the circulatory systems. Algorithms have been developed to control the self-excited nature of flow past bodies and resulting flow induced vibrations (FIV). The focus has been on problems such as, blast loading of structures (using smooth particle hydrodynamics - SPH) to micro-flow simulations using dissipative particle dynamics – DPD. Of late, his group is interested in analyzing problems of clinical interest such as, arterial wall coupling with the dynamics of blood flow in the cardio-vascular flows and cerebral circulation. Current interest also includes calculation of CHF margins in rod bundle heat transfer and their vibrations.
